West on non-football injury list
July 23, 2014 - Mike McLain
The first bit of disturbing news about the Browns surfaced Wednesday when the team placed rookie running back Terrance West on the non-football injury list. The move means that West might not be available when rookies take to the practice field Friday afternoon. It’s not believed that West is dealing with an injury that will sideline him for an extended period of time. West, selected in the third round of the draft from Towson, assured fans on Twitter that he’s anxious to start work. “I’m healthy, ready to go (NO WORRIES),” West posted. Look for West to practice Friday as he begins gearing up for his battle with Ben Tate. The competition is expected to be one of the most-watched during camp and is important as offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan looks for a dependable back to work in his zone-blocking running scheme. Also placed on the non-football injury list were defensive end Billy Winn, linebacker Tank Carder, offensive tackle Chris Faulk, defensive tackle Jacobbi McDaniel and guard Jeremiah Warren. In another roster move, undrafted rookie offensive tackle Abasi Salimu was claimed off waivers from the St. Louis Rams. Defensive back Royce Adams, linebacker Brandon Magee and wide receiver Conner Vernon were waived.
