Songs of Christmas: 'Tiny Tree Christmas'

December 16, 2013 - Andy Gray
Today’s “Song of Christmas” was featured in a commercial for a major retailer a couple years ago. I used to be in the never-sell-out, “This-Note’s-for-You” camp, and I still respect those musicians who refuse to license their music for commercials.

But the business has changed greatly since Neil Young was singing, “Ain’t singin’ for Pepsi …”

Guster probably made more money from licensing “Tiny Christmas Tree” to a big box store than it did on album sales that year. Guster deserves to make more money; anything that keeps the band in business is OK with me.

Click the link and enjoy, and maybe buy an album by an independent artist.
