Songs of Christmas: 'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)'

December 14, 2013 - Andy Gray
Last night I watched the documentary “20 Feet from Stardom,” a loving look at unsung backup singers.

If there’s a star in the movie, it’s Darlene Love, a singer whose voice is familiar to anyone who owns a radio, even if her name often wasn’t on the songs that featured her glorious voice. After watching that movie it seems like the right time to feature one of the greatest Christmas songs of all time.

“Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” was released in 1963 on the album “A Christmas Gift to You from Phil Spector.” Love makes an appearance every year on “Late Show with David Letterman” to sing this holiday favorite. Click the links to hear the original version as well as last year’s Letterman appearance.
