Songs of Christmas: 'Thanks for Christmas'

December 11, 2013 - Andy Gray
Let’s keep the ‘80s vibe going from yesterday with XTC.

XTC, led by Andy Partridge and Colin Moulding, produced some of the most complex Beatlesque pop/new wave of the era.

“Thanks for Christmas” is a fine example of the band’s sound and a song that does turn up occasionally on those all-Christmas stations. And if it makes folks check out albums like “Skylarking” and “Oranges & Lemons,” so much the better.

The band recorded a second holiday song, “Always Winter, Never Christmas,” that I came across while looking for a version of “Thanks for Christmas” to link to, but I have to stick with the more familiar song.

Click the link to the right and be thankful I didn’t post another lovelorn holiday song.
