Art shut out

February 2, 2013 - Mike McLain
Browns fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

Former owner Art Modell wasn't among the inductees into the NFL Hall of Fame's class of 2013. Modell missed the cut to the final 10, as did former San Francisco 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo Jr.

Others not among the final 10 were receiver Tim Brown, offensive lineman Will Shields and linebacker Kevin Greene.

Modell's candidacy became a hot topic among Browns fans, most of whom are against the idea of his induction. MOdell became public enemy number one in Cleveland when he Moved the Browns to Baltimore following the 1985 season.

Modell passed away last September. Obviously he wasn't able to capture the sympathetic vote.
