Grohl will induct Rush; ‘90s nostalgia reigns at Rock on the Range

January 23, 2013 - Andy Gray
Warren native Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters’ drummer Taylor Hawkins will induct Rush into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at the April 18 ceremony in Los Angeles.

The Rock Hall announced the first group of performers and presenters this morning. Others on the program include John Mayer and Gary Clark Jr., who will perform for blues great Albert King; Don Henley, who will induct Randy Newman; and Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Hudson, who will perform in honor of Donna Summer.

For those who want to make a road trip to the ceremony at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE (yes, that’s the full name of the venue), tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster at 1 p.m. EST Jan. 24 for American Express cardholders, 1 p.m. Jan. 28 for Rock Hall members and 1 p.m. Jan. 31 for the general public. The top ticket is $750. The cost of the “cheap” seats isn’t listed yet on the Ticketmaster site.

For the rest of us, the edited version of the ceremony will premiere on HBO at 9 p.m. May 18.

In other music news, anyone who doubts that ‘90s nostalgia is rampant should check out the lineup for this year’s Rock on the Range, the Columbus hard rock music festival set for May 17-19 at Columbus Crew Stadium.

Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, Korn and Bush top this year’s lineup. It’s Lollapalooza with a hint of Ozzfest.

Also on the bill will be Stone Sour, Three Days Grace, Papa Roach, Cheap Trick, Bullet For My Valentine, Volbeat, Lamb Of God, Skillet, A Day To Remember, Buckcherry, Halestorm, Hollywood Undead, All That Remains, Device (with David Draiman), Steel Panther, Sevendust, Sick Puppies, Asking Alexandria, Pop Evil, In Flames, Clutch, In This Moment, Black Veil Brides, The Sword, Ghost, Motionless In White, Red, Deuce, Middle Class Rut, Big Wreck, Oleander, Otherwise, Red Line Chemistry, Young Guns, Thousand Foot Krutch, Mindset Evolution, Tracer, Beware Of Darkness, Heaven's Basement, American Fangs, Love And Death and Gemini Syndrome.

Stadium general admission tickets good for the whole weekend will be available for $89.50 (plus fees) on Jan. 30 and Jan. 31, and Stadium GA 4-ticket packs will be available for $299. The price will go up on Feb. 1, but the website doesn’t say how much. Field GA tickets are $149.50.

Fans can register for a presale password at the Rock on the Range website.
