Browns make big move
January 18, 2013 - Mike McLain
BEREA -- In a move that doesn't come as a surprise but will certainly create criticism in the media and from fans, the Browns announced the hiring of Mike Lombardi as vice-president of player personnel today.
Lombardi worked in the Browns' front office from 1986-95 as pro personnel director and player personnel director. After the Browns moved to Baltimore in 1996, Lombardi worked for the Rams, Eagles and Raiders through the 2007 season.
Lombardi was out of football the last six seasons. He's been a contributor to the NFL Network and the National Football Post.
Rumors of the Browns possibly hiring Lombardi have created a buzz in the Cleveland area from fans and media that aren't on board with the choice., Many perceive him as a dividing force during his time with the Browns. His stay in Oakland ended when the late Al Davis fired him.
It should be an interestig press conference today at 11:30 a.m.
