New week, same mentality for YSU

September 11, 2012 - Dana Sulonen
After Saturday's 59-0 pounding of Valparaiso, the Youngstown State Penguins are now focused on Albany.

That's what they say. And that's what everyone believes.

It would be easy to say the Penguins are looking past the Great Danes and looking ahead to Week 4 when UNI comes to town to begin conference play. But the Penguins are going one game at a time, or as everyone you interview this year says, 1-0 every week. And it's not just a motto, it's their lifestyle.

Albany, also 2-0 on the season, made it to the FCS playoffs last season. YSU did not. There alone is the reasoning why the Penguins aren't looking past the Great Danes. They have made it to a place that YSU is striving to reach.

It's going to be an interesting game. There is no hype like the Pitt game. There is no expectation to win by 50 like against Valpo. It's just a straight, play for positioning, football game. But for the Penguins, it's another chance to go 1-0.
