Holmgren admits to appeal

September 4, 2012 - Mike McLain
Browns president Mike Holmgren admitted during an interview on The Fan 92.3-FM Tuesday morning that cornerback Joe Haden has appealed a four-game suspension handed down by the NFL for using the banned substance Adderall.

Until now it wasn't known for sure if Haden had been suspended. The team is awaiting final to hear if the suspension will be carried out or if Haden will be eligiblel to play Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Holmgren said during a press conference Monday that he was hopeful Haden would be eligible based on the fact the league hadn't acted on the appeal. If the suspension isn't overturned, the league will announce its decision later today.

Haden refused comment on Monday. Coach Pat Shurmur has consistently said he didn't have any details and if he did he wasn't permitted to discuss them publicly.
