Mark the date for Chocolate Festival

August 8, 2012 - Frank Robinson
Mark the date: October 10 is the Rotary Club of Warren's annual Chocolate Festival at Packard Music Hall.

The festival committee has been meeting and making plans for this year's event. The club currently is trying to line up vendors and is seeking sponsors. Last year, proceeds helped the many charities that the club supports.

This will be the eighth annual event. Ticket prices, times and other details still are being sorted out, but last year the festival was 6 to 9 p.m. and tickets were $15 per person, $25 per couple or $10 for youth 12 and younger. Tickets, when they become available, can be purchased from any Warren Rotarian, by calling Packard Music Hall at 330-841-2931 or online box office at packardmusichall.com. Tickets also will be available at the door.

The festival allows the public to sample chocolate treats from local vendors . Last year, those vendors included Daffin's Candies, Just Pizzelles, Bartell's Cupcakery, Albert Guarnieri & Co., Sarver Sweets, Candies by Courtnie, Ally's Cakepops, Joanna's Greek Treats, Dove Chocolate Discoveries, L & M Designs, The Boy Scouts of America and others.

The event will also include a wine tasting, an Oktoberfest beer tasting, a silent auction, Chinese auction and 50/50 raffle. Entertainment also will be provided.

Last year, about 400 people attended the event. The year before that, about 250 took part in the activities, raising $9,700.

The event is one of the main fundraisers for the club, which has donated a lot of money to different charities over the years. Last year's event's proceeds benefited the YWCA of Warren and its various programs including the Before and After School program with Warren schools, Step Up program, and non-traditional job career training.
