Trading up

April 26, 2012 - Mike McLain
BEREA -- It appears the Browns will select Alabama running back Trent Richardson in the first round of the NFL draft, but not with the fourth overall pick.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the Brwns have traded up one spot with the Minnesota Vikings to acquire the third overall pick. The Browns are expected to use that pick on Richardson.

The Browns obviously assumed another team planned to move up to the third spot to get Richardson. Teams that were rumored to have an interest in moving up were the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In addition to flipping choices in the first round, the Browns gave up picks 118, 139 and 211.
