Annoying window stickers

January 6, 2012 - Frank Robinson
Why is it the number of bumper stickers and window stickers saying "Stuck in Ohio" keeps increasing?

I see them on the back of perfectly good vehicles that I am sure get pretty good gas mileage. Since they are already rolling down the highway, why not just keep going? What's stopping them?

The stickers send a message that there is something wrong with this part of the world. It's a pessimistic outlook that I am sure carries on the through the bumper sticker owners' daily lives. That's a shame.

The other day I even saw a T-shirt with the "Stuck in Ohio" writing on it. That's when it dawned on me that the movement might just be a clever idea to make money and not so much a statement about society.

Anyway, I don't care for the message and wish it would go away. There might be the rare occasion when people are truly "Stuck in Ohio" due to some sort of personal reasons. However, I find it hard to believe, in this great, mobile society of ours, that anyone could be "stuck" anywhere for any extended period of time.
