| | Grab a discount on a new sleighDecember 13, 2011 - Larry RinglerThe weather has been delightful, not frightful, and with Christmas fast approaching, some of you might be thinking about giving someone - or yourself - a new four-wheel sleigh. Turns out you couldn’t hardly pick a better time to do it. December has seven of the top 10 days to buy a car, according to TrueCar.com. As you might figure, the best day this month will be Dec. 31, when the expected average discount on the Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price is 9.3 percent. Dealers are eager to ``move the metal' before depreciation and taxes take their toll going into not only a new month but a new year. The second best time will be Dec. 30, with an average expected discount of 8.9 percent. Third is Dec. 27 with an 8.8 percent average discount. Dec. 24, 28 and 29 are expected to offer an 8.7 percent discount on each day. Last Saturday was the other best day, with an average discount of 8.9 percent. TrueCar said it bases its numbers on cash, finance and lease deals nationwide. As usual, cash talks loudest. An estimated discount on a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup truck could hit 31.7 percent, knocking the MSRP of $22,230 to $15,194. Santa might retire Rudolph for that kind of deal.
