Tressel is in town
August 16, 2011 - Mike McLain
BEREA -- Among the visitors at Browns' practice Tuesday was former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel, who joined former Michigan coach Lloyd Carr to form an interesting duo.
Tressel and Carr met with Browns coach Pat Shurmur and quarterback Colt McCoy prior to pracrice. They stood on the sideline with Browns president Mike Holmgren and watched the entire practice.
Tressel refused to talk to reporters when he walked off the field.
McCoy faced the Buckeyes twice in his career at the University of Texas, including early in his freshman season.
"To have coaches like that to come out here and watch practice is neat," McCoy said. "I played against coach Tressel twice. We have a friendly relationship. I know he's a big Browns' fan, so that's pretty cool."
Carr seems to attend one practice on a yearly basis. He's usually the guest of former Wolverine Aaron Shea, who currently works in player relations.
Carr attempted to recruit Shurmur, who was a quality linebacker and center prospect. Shurmur liked Michigan State better and went on to play for the Spartans.
