A logical move for watching March Madness

March 16, 2011 - Frank Robinson
I'm a big fan of college basketball, so it's no surprise to anyone that with March Madness upon us I'm feeling a little upbeat.

But recent developments announced regarding televised coverage of the NCAA games have me feeling almost giddy.

Beginning this year, the first of a 14-year deal will actually allow me to watch the games I want to watch. I -- and I'm sure a lot of other people -- always have been aggravated that only one network carried the tournament and I was forced the watch the games as decided by the network.

That changes this year with the addition of three other networks. In addition to CBS, TNT, TBS and truTV also will carry games live as they are played. On Time Warner cable, TNT is on channel 41, TBS is on 42 and truTV is on channel 58.

All I can say is it is about time this happened. It made no sense to have to watch games based on geography. Many times there were more interesting, better games being played elsewhere in other regions.

Games already have begun, but the real fun starts with the Thursday games that kick off in Tulsa, Okla. My bracket is filled out. Let the madness begin.
