It's now Rob's turn

January 5, 2011 - Mike McLain
Rex Ryan reecived his chance to be a head coach when the New York Jets selected him two years ago after the firing of Eric Mangini.

Now there might be a chance for Rob Ryan, Rex's twin brother, to reach the same level of coaching.

The Carolina Panthers have asked the B rowns for permission to interview Rob, the defensive coordinator of the Browns the last two seasons, according to a report in the "Rock Hill Herald". Ryan has one year remaining on his contract with the Browns.

Rob wasn't shy about saying he expected to be interviewed for a head-coaching job when he met with reporters covering the Browns last Friday. The Panthers parted ways with coach John Fox, who led them to a Super Bowl appearance in the 2003 season.

Other candidates in the mix in Carolina are Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera, Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell and 49ers defensive coordintaor Greg Manusky.
