Difference Day project update
December 7, 2010 - Frank Robinson
Here is a quick follow-up to a Make A Difference Day project I wrote about recently.
A lady wrote in and said she needed help getting a shower installed. The request was forwarded to the newspaper's Make A Difference Day project coordinator.
The project was taken on by the local Road Riders for Jesus Chapter 41 organization, whose members and other volunteers provided labor. The group is a 2-year-old motorcycle club The work began Saturday, Oct. 23. Volunteers working on weekends and whenever else possible finished it up two weekends ago. Make A Difference Day turned into Make A Difference Month.
Like I said before, this project is a good example of what Make a Difference Day is all about.
Here is the thank-you note from the lady who needed the shower, with some minor editing:
"I want to thank all the people who put my needs before themselves! Weeks ago i wrote the tribune to see if they knew of someone to help me with a shower on my first floor. I have lung cancer and am on oxygen.
"My shower is on the second floor and you could not imagine how hard it is to climb the steps. Just a few days later they were at my house to see if it could be done.
"They gave up several weekends to put my shower in. Road Riders for Jesus also did my yard and trimmed my tree, all volunteers.
"Words cannot express what I feel. They are all great, caring people. Thank you so much, and may God bless."
