Waters takes "The Wall" on the road

April 12, 2010 - Andy Gray

The Wall between Roger Waters and David Gilmour/the rest of Pink Floyd stands tall.

That’s not stopping Roger Waters from taking "The Wall" on the road. Waters announced a 30th anniversary fall tour of the classic concept album, and Pittsburgh and Cleveland will be among the first dates on the three-month tour.

In an Associated Press interview, Waters said the tour won’t recreate the original staging from 1980-81. Instead, it will incorporate new technology and effects that didn’t exist 30 years ago.

"Projection systems now are completely different from what they were then, which means that I would be able to project over the entire 250-foot expanse of the wall ... which we couldn’t do in those days," he said.

The tour opens Sept. 15 in Toronto. Area dates include Sept. 26 at Pittsburgh’s new Consol Energy Arena and Sept. 28 at Cleveland’s Quicken Loans Arena. Tickets will go on sale May 10, although fans can register for a lottery for presale opportunities at Water’s Web site.
