DEAR EDITOR:

In Youngstown in 2018 there were more homicides than over the past several years.

This is unacceptable, and it’s time the people stood up and said enough is enough.

But how are we to achieve this? The Youngstown mayor has promised more police presence in problem areas, but is this enough? Are we doing enough to keep our downtown area safe? Holding press conferences and roundtable meetings at city hall is not the solution. The people of Youngstown must stand up and come together to work with law enforcement to help rid our streets and neighborhoods of the criminals who influence our young to follow in their footsteps. We must put aside our petty differences and come together as a community and work together to solve our problems and issues. We can overcome.
