National media must report just the facts

DEAR EDITOR:

Do you remember when journalism was written with honesty, integrity and only the truth was reported?

For the last 25 years, starting when Bill Clinton was president, journalism on a national level has become somewhat of a joke. For those too young to remember, a pair of Washington Post reporters, Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein risked their lives to find, report and write the truth. They covered the story we all know now as “Watergate.” The Democratic National Committee Headquarters, located in the Watergate Hotel in Washington was broken into and items stolen that supposedly would help Richard Nixon get elected in 1972. Between 1972 and 1976, Woodward and Bernstein did exhaustive investigative reporting based on finding, reporting and writing the truth. Their investigation ultimately led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon, as he was found to have authorized the break in.

For some reason the overwhelming majority of the mainstream national media has become nothing more than the propaganda arm of the liberal Democratic party. They report and print only what benefits the national liberal agenda while at the same time underreport or bury stories that would have any negative impact on the liberals.

In March of 2012 then-President Barack Obama told former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev over a microphone that was left on, “After my election I have more flexibility.”

What did he mean? But that story got buried. Now the same media is trying to manufacture a story that President Donald Trump colluded with the Russians to somehow manipulate the last presidential election. For 21 months the media has been feeding us the liberal party’s lies, untruths and fabrications while coming up with not one shred of evidence of meddling. I guess their theory is if you spread the lie long enough, eventually voters will begin to believe it. The Democrats are in desperate need of votes.

Can you imagine the crimes, corruption, dishonesty and fraud that Woodward and Bernstein would uncover if they investigated Bill and Hillary Clinton? Of course their lives would be inherently more endangered than 40 years ago. With freedom of the press a constitutional right, wouldn’t it be great if honesty, integrity, finding and reporting the truth would somehow be the rule and not the exception once again?
