How wrong was vote for Niles mayor?

DEAR EDITOR:

How wrong was the vote taken last week by Niles precinct committee members to pick the new Niles mayor? It was run by the head of the Trumbull County Democratic Party.

Here are a few questions.

Why was the vote for Niles mayor held about a month later than it should have been?

The time limit to submit name changes was at the chairman’s will. Why?

Then, the home run of the night was when the chairman let a nomination from the floor be OK’d for a candidate that the chairman knew could not run.

The chairman allowed committee people to vote secretly. It should have been an open vote.

Does this look wrong, or just smell wrong?
