Cartoonist Muccio captured spirit

DEAR EDITOR:

Everyone should visit the Warren-Trumbull County Library. They will enjoy the mural in the entranceway painted by local artist Rick Muccio. All county educators should make it a target for field trips to downtown Warren.

Mr. Muccio, who also is the editorial cartoonist for the Tribune Chronicle, did it again in the Jan. 7 Tribune, capturing the spirit so dear to all Americans — “I was a stranger and you invited me in.”

I wish he had more space to show the backside of the extended arm in the cartoon. I know it would surely depict the little-known St. Vincent de Paul dining hall on Niles Road in Warren, where our 400-plus volunteers monthly serve more than 1,300 free and delicious meals weekdays. The St. Vincent de Paul Society also maintains a thrift store at the same location at Wick Avenue and Niles Road, Warren. Our volunteers sell used furniture, appliances, household items and clothing to support the dining hall next door.

I say “Bravo” to Mr. Muccio and the Tribune Chronicle. May God bless you.

We find it is a singular joy to help others. Young people out there may call us. We may be contacted at 2415 Niles Road SE, Warren.

Our motto is, “Help us to help others.”
