Time was right for tax reform

DEAR EDITOR:

The last time Congress comprehensively reformed our tax code, Pete Rose still played for the Cincinnati Reds.

That reform led to a thriving economy in the 1980s and 1990s, but, decades later, it was time to do it again.

The corporate tax rate is the highest in the industrialized world — and small businesses are taxed at an even higher rate.

As a result, many businesses have moved overseas, leaving our workers behind.

The tax reform plan will make American companies competitive with the rest of the world, and the result will create jobs and increase wages.

We have the chance to reopen the American economy as the best place in the world to do business. Businesses owners demand it and workers deserve it.
