‘Out of the Darkness’ Walk successful
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s “Out of the Darkness” community walk was held Sept. 30 at the Wick Recreational Area of Mill Creek Park. As my wife Cindy is the chairperson, I must say I could never be prouder of the work we put into the event.
Our event goal was $35,000, and we are proud of everyone who helped us not only reach the goal, but surpass it. We have raised more than $44,000 to assist in advocacy, education and counseling in Northeast Ohio!
So many people who took part in the walk showed the community that it is OK to talk about the issue of suicide, tell their stories and hopefully help each other heal.
We give a heartfelt thanks to them, to our 41 sponsors, to many people who donated to our cause, but wished to remain anonymous, to our friends and family as well as all the volunteers who showed up to make the event such a success.
