Equal justice for equal crimes
Justice? Are you kidding me? There are two high-profile murder cases in Trumbull County involving teenagers, one got a slap on the wrist and a year in jail, the other they want to try as an adult and throw under a bus.
Bresha Meadows killed her father while he slept, she should have been tried as an adult, but instead her case was handled as a juvenile and she was given a slap on the wrist and a year in juvenile detention.
The other high profile case, that of Jacob LaRosa, will see him tried as an adult with the possibility of life in prison without parole.
We know the horrible crime LaRosa is accused of, but is it any worse than Meadows’ crime?
Murder is murder, no matter how you look at it, but we must have equal justice for equal crimes, and that will probably not be the case here.
Trumbull County needs to rethink how to proceed with this.
