Enough taxes are enough in Niles
DEAR EDITOR:
I have a question about the Niles Board of Education wanting to place a levy on the November ballot.
How much money are the citizens of Niles supposed to give up in taxes? The school board decided we needed all new schools and a new football field to the tune of several thousand dollars. The city is crying about no money, even after a police income tax levy was passed.
Now the city wants to raise the license plate fee to raise money.
When is enough enough? The school superintendent claims only $19 a month for a $70,000 home. Do the math; that is $228 a year for residents on top of what we already pay for the new schools.
Please, residents of Niles, vote no on this levy. Send a clear message to both the city and the schools, we will not be taxed out of our homes.
