Let’s work together for our nation

DEAR EDITOR:

What a great country America was at its inception. We wanted to be free from the chains of colonial oppression, free to express ourselves without fear of reprisal, free to roam the great country we had claimed as our own and free to honor and worship the one, true God, our Heavenly Father, however we choose.

It is our great shame that recent history has changed America in such profound ways. The system of checks and balances that founding fathers put in place for “We the people” has been corrupted by liberal “new age” thinkers, with a secular agenda to destroy the foundation of America.

In the history of our country, when Americans pull together, great things happen. But today, we are pulling away from each other in ways we have not seen in this country for over 150 years. We have a chance to turn things around but not with the politicians bickering over petty issues while the real problems of our country go unsolved. Tax reform, immigration, our growing national debt and the deteriorating infrastructure — our roads and bridges, railroads, ports — are a few of the problems we should be working on. Unfortunately, our politicians are fighting with each other trying to make each other look bad to the voting public.

We are better than this. Let’s get to work on the real issues facing our country and pull together.

Although my voice is often a cry in the wilderness, maybe some of the people in power will eventually wake up. We, as loyal and concerned Americans, can only hope, and pray.
