Remove Trump from presidency

DEAR EDITOR:

We have now lived through two weeks of the Donald J. Trump administration. Personally, I think it has been a bad two weeks.

Rather than list the outrages, I would like to provide to the people who voted for him the quotes from two prominent Republicans, Elliot Cohen and David Frum, that recently appeared in Atlantic magazine.

Cohen, known for foreign policy expertise, said, “Trump, in one spectacular week, has already shown himself one of the worst of our presidents, who has no regard for the truth, indeed a contempt for it, whose patriotism is a belligerent nationalism, whose prior public service lay in avoiding both the draft and taxes, who does not know the Constitution, does not read, and therefore does not understand our history, and who, at his moment of greatest success, obsesses about approval ratings.”

Frum, one of George W. Bush’s speech writers, said, “A law-abiding person will want to stay as far as possible from the personal service of President Trump. As demonstrated by the sad example of press secretary Sean Spicer spouting out glaring lies on his first day of the job. This president will demand that his aides do improper things and the low standards of integrity in Trump’s entourage create a culture of conformity to these demands.”

These two Republicans had the courage to go against the consensus of their own party and be honest about what our country faces with a Trump presidency. I would ask those who voted for Trump to carefully consider the administration’s actions these past two weeks. Many of them may have voted for Trump to shake up the system. I think they are getting more than the bargained for.

Will the damage this administration has / will inflict on the USA be repairable? I call upon all courageous and honest Americans to support the legal removal of President Trump by impeachment, the 25th Amendment to the Constitution or any other means available. The future of our country is at stake!
