Another slap to Delphi retirees

DEAR EDITOR:

Once again, another slap in the face, to all the Packard Electric and Delphi employees and retirees! Another big profit-sharing check to all employees at GM. Don’t get me wrong, these employees probably deserve this, and I do not say that they should not!

Let’s face it though, I was employed for 31 years, and when I signed my retirement papers I was guaranteed health benefits and my life insurance for life! But then I lost all benefits and my life insurance was lowered! Yes we did need insurance then, but now that we are in our 70s and 80s we also need it, and more than we did then.

If they can give all employees $12,000 then what is the reason that we cannot get some our benefits given back to us?

Then they, General Motors, were taking all of this away, why did not the International Union step in and fight for us to keep this, at least part of it. We all paid our union dues every month. I always thought the union dues were for them to back us and protect us for what we were promised!

I and several others devoted our time, sweat and sometimes tears and the thanks we got was another slap in the face! There is no justice in this at all.
