Chicago needs ‘stop and frisk’ program

DEAR EDITOR:

In case you missed it, here are the facts about Chicago that has some of the strictest gun control in the country.

In 2016, there were 4,331 people shot, mostly in about five neighborhoods on the south and west side of Chicago. There were 762 murders, more than New York City and Los Angeles combined. Most involve the very young, from ages 16 to 21.

There were 8,300 guns confiscated in 2016. Talk about gun control — what a joke!

Over the New Year’s Day weekend, there were 40 shootings there and four deaths to start 2017.

I don’t see Black Lives Matter going to Chicago and trying to do something about all the insane killing.

How about doing a stop and frisk program? I don’t mind getting checked each time I walk down the street. How about you?
