Support Holmes for state seat

DEAR EDITOR:

Due to our current state Rep. Sean O’Brien not seeking reelection, Democrats from the 63rd District were asked to nominate his replacement. We had two highly qualified Democrats from our community seeking this office, Hubbard Councilman Ben Kyle and McDonald Mayor Glenn Holmes.

I applaud both individuals for conducting well-run, positive campaigns. Mayor Holmes received the nomination. I congratulate him on his victory and I congratulate Councilman Kyle on his impressive showing. Ben certainly has a bright future in local politics and thank him for the privilege of serving as his campaign chairman.

For the welfare of our community, it is now imperative we as Democrats unite behind our nominee.  Mayor Holmes serves on several local, county and state boards. His service provides him the necessary bi-partisan networking skills and contacts required to serve our community’s legislative and financial interests. Additionally, he has served as mayor of McDonald for nine years and previously served four years as President of Council.  While many communities are suffering from financial hardship, under his leadership the village of McDonald completed the 2015 year with a quite impressive $2 million surplus.

As your former mayor, I am keenly aware of the importance of having a strong and effective state representative who will assure Hubbard receives its fair share of state funding for capital improvements as well as protecting our legislative interests.  I am positive Mayor Glenn Holmes will provide that leadership and strongly urge you to support and elect him our next State Representative of the 63rd District.

ALBERT J. SAULINE, JR.
