Store took away joy of gift-giving

DEAR EDITOR:

Christmas is supposed to be a time for giving and blessings.

Our youth group went to a local department store and purchased $700 worth of gift cards, and then they went back to the church and put them in Christmas cards with hand-written messages. They then went back to the store to bless many with the gift cards.

The manager yelled at them and told them to leave immediately. He said that they were soliciting. They were not selling or asking for anything, only trying to pass out Christmas joy and happiness.

It’s sad that these kids were robbed of this chance to experience the gift of giving. The store is too big for its own britches. It will be glad to take all your hard-earned money, but God forbid you give back.
