Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh need to spend time reading the Bible
My husband and I were watching the Rev. Al Sharpton’s show on MSNBC last night, and there was a clip from the Bill O’Reilly show where he stated that if Jesus was here, how he would disapprove of the food stamp program, and how people on food stamps and public assistance were lazy, drug dealers and the like.
How in the world can he make such a statement? Did not Jesus feed the poor? Are we not to be our brother’s keeper? How dare he presume to speak for Jesus.
I wonder how often Bill O’Reilly picks up the Bible and actually reads it. I think that before anyone expounds about Scripture, they should know Scripture.
As far as people being lazy, drug addicts and the like, I don’t doubt if some are, but I really think that the majority of those on these programs have no other choice. We all must do whatever we have to do to make it in this world. Some merely want a hand up, not a hand out, but their circumstances prohibit this.
Rush Limbaugh also spews his venomous opinion on this subject. I wonder if those like Limbaugh and O’Reilly have ever been in these people’s shoes. Have they always had a silver spoon in their mouths? Have they ever had to go hungry?
I doubt it, for if they did they would not be so quick to judge others less fortunate then they are. The Bible says to ”Judge not lest ye be judged.”
At this time of the year, people for the most part are filled with love and charity. You see more smiles than frowns. But there are still some who rush by you almost knocking you off of your feet to get to the selected items on sale. No “excuse me,” no nothing. The greeting ”Merry Christmas” is sometimes replaced with ”Happy Holidays.” Christ is in Christmas, though some seem to forget that fact.
Jesus is being taken out of Christmas more and more. Without him, there would be no Christmas. Could we refer to him, not just to make a point of validation like those like Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly. But can we just spread his love, share his love and appreciate his birth?
