Family grateful for return of cattle dog

DEAR EDITOR:

We wish to thank all involved in the return of our Blue Heeler cattle dog, Abby, Wednesday, Feb. 20. Thanks to the members of the Fowler and Vienna police departments and the Fowler Fire Department who kept an eye out for her on the rounds.

We also want to acknowledge the vet offices and the store owners who allowed us to post the lost-dog flyers. Our neighbors on Bradley Brownlee Road offered their assistance and comforting words as we went through this situation.

I am here to say that these posters do work as it was one of them that led to her safe return.

Abby survived the frigid temperatures on Tuesday evening by sleeping in the cab (like our farm tractors) of a bulldozer at a shale well site on Route 193.

Thanks to all the well site workers who put up with her barking and jumping as she evidently thought she was “guarding” the bulldozer as her new territory. It was one of those well site workers who saw our poster in the Fowler general store, thanks to the prominent placement at the cash register by Robin Lenox.

Words cannot express our feelings of joy and relief when Abby walked back into our home. She is recovering from her ordeal, but did not require vet care.

We are happy to live in a community of such caring and compassionate people. Because of them, our family had the happy outcome that new lost pet owners get to experience.

Allan and Amy Bower,

Andrew, Aaron and Alec
