Nominate a Community Star today

It was 2002 when the Tribune Chronicle began seeking nominations of local people who deserve to be celebrated for volunteering their time, talents and abilities to make this community a better place to live and work.

It’s hard to believe we are heading into the 17th season in which we seek nominations for the annual Trumbull County Community Stars event, in which 10 people will be selected from among the nominations. If this year is anything like those of the past, a committee will be given the awesome challenge of selecting from among dozens of nominees.

Again this year, those winners will be honored by the Tribune Chronicle and Trumbull 100 with an amazing banquet in March and a beautiful award. The stars will be saluted by their friends, family and nominators, and then their stories will be told in a special full-color magazine inserted in the Tribune Chronicle.

We take great joy in honoring local folks who have consistently found ways to step up to make their communities a better place.

And we hope you will take great joy in nominating those friends, neighbors or fellow volunteers for this great honor.

Nominations are being accepted through Jan. 22, and they can be made by filling out the form that will run periodically in the Tribune Chronicle and mailing it to Tribune Chronicle, attention: Sue Shafer, 240 Franklin St. SE, Warren, OH 44483. Submissions can also be emailed to Shafer at or by logging on to and clicking on the Submit News button. There is a category for Community Stars.
