Domestic energy should be embraced
That natural gas well you notice on the way to work every morning could be a factor in protecting you against terrorists as well as making your life more comfortable. How?
Several Arab nations are pressuring one of their own, Qatar, to end its support of Islamic terrorism. Some other countries, including ours, are considering economic action against Qatar.
Making that effective will be difficult. Qatar is the world’s biggest exporter of liquefied natural gas. Several countries, including Great Britain and Japan, rely on it.
But for the Obama administration’s often subtle action to limit the U.S. gas industry, American LNG could be a factor in enlisting more allies against Qatar. Clearly, unnecessary barriers against development of the gas industry — and other sources of energy in our country — need to be eliminated not just to help our economy, but to help make us safer.
