Joyce should keep his seat in Congress
The Tribune Chronicle Editorial Board endorses Republican incumbent U.S. Rep. David Joyce over challengers Michael Wager, a Democrat, and Andrew Jarvi, Green party candidate, for the 14th Congressional District seat.
Joyce, of Painesville, works well across the aisle, including with U.S. Rep. Timothy J. Ryan, D-Howland, and is among a group of Republican and Democratic House members who meet to share ideas. It’s this type of communication and bi-partisan cooperation that we see as key to getting things accomplished in Washington.
Joyce believes the key to economic recovery lies heavily in energy independence, and will work hard to ensure our Valley is part of that plan. He also touted the value of buying American.
He has voted to strengthen the U.S. Visa Waiver program in order to protect the U.S. and ensure terrorists with Western passports don’t enter our country if they have visited Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and other hotbeds of terror. That makes sense.
In fact, we agree with Joyce on most national issues. He pushes for less government spending, reducing the nation’s debt and and rebuilding our country’s infrastructure.
All in all, we see Joyce as the better choice for Northeast Ohio.
