Tell us why you are thankful

It’s hard to believe in less than eight weeks the holidays will be over.

Yes, we have survived the election season, and now it won’t be long before we will be caught up in the frenzy of holiday shopping, wrapping, decorating and baking.

Before all that begins consuming our lives, let’s take a few minutes to reflect on why we are thankful and what really means the most to us. Usually during this season, we are more open about sharing our gratitude.

So to help spread the word, the Tribune Chronicle this year is continuing its tradition of publishing notes of gratitude for the annual Giving Thanks features over Thanksgiving week.

Whether it’s the fall weather, encouragement of family or a life-changing event, readers are encouraged to submit the reasons they are thankful.

Readers are encouraged to send their notes of thanks to the Tribune Chronicle in the next two weeks, and we will publish them the week of Thanksgiving.

We like to give readers the opportunity to let the entire community know what we are most thankful for. It’s also a great opportunity to encourage teens and children to develop an attitude of appreciation.

Forms for writing thanks will be published from time to time in the Tribune Chronicle in the coming weeks. Fill out the coupon, attach a separate piece of paper with your thankful thoughts and mail it to the newspaper, Attn: Giving Thanks, 240 Franklin St. S.E., Warren OH 44483. Please limit your submission to 35 words.

For those who feel more comfortable submitting thanks electronically, log on to the Tribune Chronicle’s Virtual Newsroom at “http://www.tribtoday.com”>www.tribtoday.com, and clicking on the red “Submit your news,” button, then go to the Giving Thanks category. Or they can be submitted by email to givingthanks@tribtoday.com.

Submissions should include a person’s complete name, a phone number (not for publication) and the community in which you reside.

Local schools who wish to participate this year are encouraged to send student submissions electronically. You can submit up to 35 words per student. After each submission, please list the student’s name and grade. Also include the name of the school and community.

Submissions are due at the Tribune Chronicle no later than Nov. 17.

Certainly we all have someone or something that deserves our thanks. Let’s let them know during this very important time of year.
