Time to express some reasons to be thankful

Most of us have reasons to be thankful. It could be an everyday, comfortable situation or a sudden, life-changing occurrence.

If we take a moment to reflect, we can usually identify something or someone.

Thanksgiving is a time to exhibit our gratitude for the good fortune we have received. The Tribune Chronicle is inviting its readers to share their reasons to be thankful with the rest of us. Your submissions will be published in the newspaper on Thanksgiving Day.

It’s not difficult. You can use the form that is being published from time to time in the Tribune Chronicle. Fill out the coupon, attach a separate piece of paper with your reason and mail it to the newspaper, Attn: Giving Thanks, 240 Franklin St. S.E., Warren 44482.

To submit your thanks electronically, go to www.tribtoday.com, click on the blue ”submit your news” button and go to the Giving Thanks category; or email your submission to givingthanks@tribtoday.com.

Please include your complete name, a phone number (not for publication) and the community in which you reside.

Submissions must be received this week.

Schools who wish to participate this year are encouraged to do so electronically.

What a holiday treat for the entire community to be overwhelmed by the multitude of reasons Trumbull County, and the entire Mahoning Valley, is a great place. How gratifying it would be to read countless accounts of people that have made a difference in other peoples’ lives. Or about why so many locals are happy to be living here.

Over the past several years, the community has responded with thousands of heartwarming stories. The stories have helped fill the Thanksgiving editions with emotional, uplifting anecdotes. Some of the letters have resulted in Tribune reporters pursuing stories on good things Trumbull County people do for one another.

Past letters have run the gamut, from lifesaving heroism to simply taking care of a neighbor’s pet. We don’t want any random act of kindness to go unrecognized. No matter how trivial, people in the community can spare a moment to lift one another’s spirits. Thanksgiving is a time to notice the good that people do for one another and it gives the newspaper an opportunity to print letters of thanks.
