Government must live by same rules
State legislators from throughout the nation heard a stern lecture from Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius last week.
Clearly, Sebelius was in a mood to browbeat leaders in states that have been reluctant to implement mandates of the new national health care law, ”Obamacare.” During the National Conference of State Legislatures, Sebelius told them, ”This is no longer a political debate. This is what we call the law.”
Perhaps she should take that show on the road. A good first stop might be the White House, which does not seem to have gotten the proverbial memo.
How else to explain the White House decision to unilaterally rule that businesses should be exempt for a year from part of Obamacare requiring them to provide government-approved health insurance for employees. That will save businesses billions of dollars.
But because ordinary Americans still must obtain insurance, one way or another, the White House ruling will cost millions of them dearly.
Yes, Obamacare is the law of the land. Would someone remind the federal government that it is supposed to enforce the law – not break it?
