Raymond D. Kline 1944-2019

CORTLAND — Raymond David Kline, age 76, of Cortland, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Monday, March 11, 2019, at his home.

He was born Dec. 12, 1944, in Warren, the son of the late James Kline and Laura Josephine Collins Kline. He had lived in Cortland for the past 13 years, and was formerly of Newton Falls and Lordstown. He graduated from Newton Falls High School in 1964. Ray served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1967, achieving the rank of staff sergeant.

Raymond worked as a welder at US Gypsum, Republic Steel, and retired from Amweld Building Products in Garrettsville, where he was the president of the union. He was a member of the Lordstown Christian Church for many years. He also was a member of the United Steel Workers, USW Local 9354, and he was the former president of the Walnut Run Senior Villas Tenant Association where he lived.

Ray loved to go fishing, playing pool, listening to country and gospel music and being around people; and he was loved by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Susie Kellar; one daughter, Angela Rae Kline; one sister, Sally McCall; and three brothers, Jimmy, Terry and Bob Kline.

Ray is survived by five daughters, Jody LeMasters of Warren, Nikki and Shawn Lawrence of Mineral Ridge, Paula and Henry Rodgers of Warren, Anna May and Stanley Parrish of Warren and Heather Dyer of Mineral Ridge; two sons, John and Julie Kline of Newton Falls and Jason Kren of Mineral Ridge; one sister, Georgia and Murrell DeBolt of Newton Falls; one brother, Thomas Kline of Newton Falls; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Per Raymond’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2019, at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls. Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Ray will be laid to rest with his parents at Newton Falls Cemetery.
