Sophie A. Cohol 1943-2018

HOWLAND — Sophie A. Cohol, 75, of Howland, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018, at her residence.

Sophie was born May 25, 1943, in Wilpen, Pa., the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Vucinich Rusnock.

She attended Penn State and finished her post secondary education at Youngstown University with a Bachelor of Education.

Sophie taught in Warren for two years before starting a family. She returned to teaching as a substitute for Howland Schools and the surrounding area. She tutored several students at this time as well.

She was a member of Living Lord Lutheran Church, where she volunteered her time over the years.

Sophie is survived by her husband, James Cohol of 51-plus years; her son, John Cohol of Naperville, Ill.; her daughter, Carol (Scott) Guscar of Milford, Mich.; grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, and Katelyn Guscar of Milford, Mich.; and sister-in-love, Diane Bauman.

There will not be calling hours.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at Living Lord Lutheran Church, 851 Niles-Cortland Road. The service will be officiated by Rev. Leitch.

Her final resting place is at St. Paul’s columbarium.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
