Gloria V. Purcell 1935-2018

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Gloria V. Purcell, 83, of Cape Canaveral, Fla., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018, at Cape Canaveral Hospital.

She was born Feb. 10, 1935, in Kokomo, Ind., to the late Ray Van Devender and Imogene Gillig.

Gloria lived in Warren, where she and her husband owned and operated Purcell’s Home Decorating. Moving to Merritt Island, Fla., in 1980, she pursued real estate and became the broker of Parkway Realty until she retired. Gloria was a vibrant person who loved to talk and visit with anyone she met. She enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. She dearly loved and was loved by her family. She will be deeply missed.

Gloria leaves her loving companion, Robert “Bob” Wright; a daughter, Pam (Harold) Gray; her two sons, Van Purcell and Eric Purcell; her beloved grandchildren, Aaron Purcell, Christian Purcell, Cori (Rick) Riggs, Chad (Shannon) Campbell and Cindi (Curtis) Doxtater; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Tim (Doreen) Van Devender and Jay Van Devender; sister-in-law, Gail Van Devender; aunt, Virginia Barker; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Purcell; brother, Max Van Devender; and sister-in-law, Diane Van Devender.

Her life will be celebrated with a memorial service 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Wylie Baxley Funeral Home, 1360 N. Courtenay Pkwy., Merritt Island, Fla. 32953, with a lunch reception following in the Jamaica Room at the Radisson, 8701 Astronaut Blvd., Cape Canaveral.
