Janet Anderson 1923-2018
AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. — Janet Hahn Anderson, 94, formerly of Warren, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018.
Janet was born July 3, 1923, in Cleveland, to Alan and Ruth Clegg Hahn.
She was selected to train as an actress under Esther Mullin at the Cleveland Playhouse Children’s Theatre and performed throughout high school and college. Janet graduated from Wellesley College in 1945, with a degree in English literature.
After college, she worked with her uncle, Lee Clegg, an early partner in the pioneering aeronautics firm Thompson Products (later TRW, Inc.) in Cleveland.
In 1946, she married Hugh Christie Anderson. In the first years of marriage, she ran a puppet theatre at the Chagrin Valley Little Theatre then embraced the adventure of raising children. In 1958, Hugh and Janet moved to Warren, where Hugh established his business.
They thrived in the distinct community of Northeast Ohio.
Following her retirement as a memorable classroom teacher in the Howland Public Schools, Janet and Hugh moved to Amelia Island. They found a place of enduring friendships and dedicated time to the Fernandina Beach High School and the First Presbyterian Church.
Janet is survived by her children, Mark Anderson, Amy Anderson and Molly Anderson; and grandchildren, Christian and wife, Megan and Andrew and wife, Emily.
Her radiant life will be celebrated at a service 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, at Walker’s Landing, Amelia Island.
