Gilbert W. Wallace 1949-2018

NILES — Gilbert W. “Bill” Wallace, 68, of Niles, passed away at 8:30 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2018, in the ICU of St. Joseph Warren Hospital.

Mr. Wallace was born Oct. 23, 1949, in Youngstown, the son of the late Gilbert E. and Lois Joann Hobba Wallace.

He was a 1967 graduate of Niles McKinley High School. Bill retired as the general manager of Handyman Hardware in Champion in 2016, after 30 years of employment.

Mr. Wallace was of the Protestant faith. Bill coached numerous Niles Little League Baseball teams throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. He had a passion for science fiction and history movies. Early on in Bill’s life he loved following various types of local bands throughout the valley.

He is survived by a sister, Sharon (Kenneth) Lissimore of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a niece, Teresa (Brian) Dragich; a nephew, Ron (Stelliann) Wood; two great-nephews, Michael (Sashell) and Anthony; one great-niece Carly; and two great-great-nephews, Lincoln and Levi. Bill will also be greatly missed by many of his close friends.

Calling hours will take place 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2018, at the Wm Nicholas Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 614 Warren Ave., Niles, OH 44446. A funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2018, at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Lake Park Cemetery, Struthers.
