Curtiss M. Venn 1941-2018

SARASOTA, Fla. — Curtiss Milo Venn, 76, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, in Sarasota, Fla., while recuperating from orthopedic surgery.

He was born Nov. 24, 1941, in North Bloomfield, to Doris Cone Venn and Wilford John Venn.

He grew up in rural eastern Ohio and after high school he married Janet Gail Rogers in 1962. They relocated to the west coast of Florida soon thereafter. He was an electrician by trade, but could repair just about anything. He retired in 2008 after a 40-year career.

He was a generous man of few words. He took great pride in his family. He enjoyed cars, running, bridge and karaoke. He collected ornate African tribal art, cowboy boots and Stetson hats. Curtiss continuously investigated his spirituality and he considered himself a steward of earth and did the best he could to leave it a better place. A humanist to the end and beyond, he donated his body to science with the intent of providing every bit of utility possible.

He leaves behind his three children, Kimarie Venn Kleinsasser of Gainesville, Fla., Laura Venn Davidson of Sarasota, Fla., and Curtiss Michael (Haley) Venn of New York, N.Y., and their mother, Gail Venn Flynn; as well as three grandsons, Alexander Kleinsasser, Samuel Kleinsasser and Grey James Venn. He also leaves a sister, Millie Venn (Joel) Eubanks of Blountville, Tenn.; and a stepsister, Nancy (Donald) Ondrejka of Ohio.

He was loved and he will be missed.
