Robert P. Merrick Sr. 1939-2018

BROOKFIELD — Robert P. Merrick Sr., 78, of Brookfield, passed away at 11:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, at Orange Village Care Center, Masury, after a brief illness.

Mr. Merrick was born Aug. 13, 1939, in Burghill, a son of Phillip and Mildred Livermore Merrick.

He attended the former Hartford High School in Hartford and served in the U.S. Army.

Bob retired in 1997 from Delphi Packard, Warren, where he was employed for 25 years.

He previously worked as a skilled carpenter.

Bob enjoyed watching the History Channel, Animal Planet, NASCAR, college basketball and Major League Baseball, particularly the Cleveland Indians. He was also a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, the former Henrietta E. Grandy, whom he married June 4, 1964; a daughter, Debbra (Ronald) Sullinger of Vienna; a son, Robert P. (Brenda) Merrick Jr. of Oak Harbor, Wash.; four grandsons; two granddaughters; a sister, Shirley (Paul) Williamson of Warren; and a brother, Paul (Faythe) Merrick of Colorado.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Carol Lockovich.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
