Raymond L. Best 1935-2018
NORTH JACKSON – Raymond L. “Ray” Best, 82, of North Jackson, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, in his winter home in Bushnell, Fla.
He was born Feb. 11, 1935, in Warren, a son of the late Isaac Noble and the late Della Sampson Best.
Ray worked in transportation at LTV Steel, retiring after 36 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Raymond was a member of Warren Harley Owners Group as well as the Retreads of Crystal River. He rode Harleys his whole life and loved riding. Ray also bowled in a few local bowling leagues and liked to play pool.
Left to carry on his memories are his son, Ray L. Best Jr. of Newton Falls; daughter, Debra A. Best of Cortland; sisters, Lucy Imhoff of Bristol and Donna Jean Hall of Newton Falls; grandchildren, Charlie Wallace, Celeste Best and Bradly Best; two great-granddaughters, Aaliyah and Azalea; as well as his companion for the last 14 years, Sharon Daisley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife, Barbara A. Gardener; infant son, Jeffrey A. Best; brother, Isaac “Bud” Best; sister, Pauline Ingram; and twin infant sisters, Marylou and Clarabelle.
Services will be 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where Pastor Jim Dittmar will officiate. Friends may call 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in North Jackson Cemetery, North Jackson.
