Norma Jean Sloat 1934-2018

WARREN – Norma Jean Sloat, 83, of Warren, went home to be with the Lord early Thursday morning, Feb. 1, 2018, at Vibra Hospital of Mahoning Valley, Trumbull Campus, following a short illness.

Norma Jean was born Sept. 10, 1934, in Marion, a daughter of the late Mario and Inez Thrush Guliuzza and came to this area in the 1970s.

She worked as a veterinarian assistant for Dr. Kantzer in Marion for several years and was a member of Ohltown United Methodist Church.

She leaves her husband of 65 years, of which she was very proud, Frank Sloat, whom she married Nov. 1, 1952; two daughters, Tarey (Dan) Balash of Mineral Ridge and Kim McLeod of Warren; four grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Zachary McLeod, Emily McLeod, Dana Uber and Derek Balash; and two great-grandchildren, Leah Uber and Liam Uber. She also leaves a sister, Patricia (Dick) Bond.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Lane Family Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave. Friends may call noon until the time of the 2 p.m. service Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests material tributes take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
