Norleen R. Paulchel 1934-2018

ASHTABULA — Norleen R. Paulchel, 83, of Ashtabula, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at the Saybrook Landing.

She was born Nov. 23, 1934, in Warren, the daughter of Elmer and Ruby Bishop Detre.

Norleen was a soft spoken, gentle person. She never had a bad thing to say about anyone. She spent her life taking care of her husband and family and cooking delicious meals.

In her younger years, she worked as a switchboard operator for Ohio Bell.

She was active in her church, Messiah Lutheran, for many years.

Norleen was known for sending birthday cards to everyone she knew and had pen pals all over the world.

She loved to travel and enjoyed going on bus trips. She also spent several years organizing bus trips that she called “Norleen’s Marvelous Adventures.” She took her last bus trip in 2016 with her niece to Mt. Rushmore, a place she had always wanted to see.

She was a peaceful person in life and she died a peaceful death surrounded by family, for which they give all the glory to Jesus Christ.

Survivors include her sons, Jim (Laurie) Paulchel and their daughter, Kennedy, and Greg (Pam Rauth) Paulchel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 57 years, James Paulchel.

Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 West 19th St., Ashtabula, with a short remembrance at 5 p.m.
